I know the zone is rather quiet compared to what it used to be, but shouldn't there actually be active CLs? For example although I love her Liz hasn't been here in almost two years, so that tells me life is to busy for her. OceanDream is even longer. to the other CLs if you are just to busy, or whatever just say so. I wouldn't blame you if you needed to step down. I just don't think it looks very good for the site if a bunch of CLs are inactive, or hardly come around.

brought up. we all get it, the cL's suck, only two of them come on regularly, and
that's shit. We all also realize that nothing will ever be done. If you don't like
that, stop giving the site money.

It's all for the entertainment, Cia. It must be. otherwise, if this sort of topic - and all the other repeat topics that cover the same ground - were really that agrivating, people would just ignore topics they don't think are worth while, rather than feeding them. As for people who go out of their way to just be insulting for the sake of it, some people just have that sort of personality. The immature part of me called it the type D personality. No matter what you say, what you do, they will always be there to tell you why you're wrong, why you, or what you think is stupid, or to correct something you've said. All yuou can do, Cia is not take it personally - eeven if it is meant to be taken personally, and don't let it get to you. The reaction is what they're looking for.
As for the topic at hand, dead horse or not, it is frustrating. Leadership exists for a reason. And there are enough regular membership that it would be worth reconfiguring that leadership. If someone does not want to lead, or doesn't have the time, step down and make room for someone who does, and has the integrity and personality to do it honorably. Problem is, like people have said, this has been discussed many times with no real result. I'd hate to see the boards bogged down by such topics, but I do think it's helpful to have them in the event some caring admin ever does feel the need to do something about it.

Oh, and Sia, it takes a great effort to be kicked out of here. You have to be pretty abusive and deplorable. Even attempted murder isn't a garontee of being banned.
For instance, when I point out someone who has way more than two active accounts, and am told by the power that be that I should just let it slide, for one.
Wow, it's nice to see once again that people think they can so easily get into mine and Cody's heads--I mean, I won't claim I'm speaking for Cody here because I'm not, but to label us one way because we say things in a more direct way than most people here would like, is unnecessary and inaccurate. I'm actually here not to start fights or tell people how stupid they are, but to have fun, occasionally be entertained, and overall to maybe learn a thing or two myself. I don't have time to pussyfoot around and water things down so much that no one understands where I'm coming from; while I don't go out of my way to offend people, I certainly realize that some way, somehow, I will always offend someone--I'm well aware that the critics are everywhere. While I don't apologize for who I am, I'm sorry to know that so many people here take offense at my meer presence. I wish more people would be unafraid to speak their minds--and I'm not talking about this petty name calling that is done whenever someone says something you don't like, but honestly sharing yourself/your thoughts with the community you're a part of. Sorry to get on a soap box, but I wanted to clear things up.
Back to the topic at hand though, I guess people will never learn that creating topics like this does no good whatsoever. However, I'll say to the OP, that if you wanna be a CL so bad, email the admins yourself and tell them. That probably won't get you anywhere either, but at least that would allow them to see what you want them to see.
Anthony, a former CL used to ban people whenever it struck his fancy from what I've heard. He is no longer among the living, so I won't speak ill of the dead. But if he got away with that, why can't you ban people who have multiple accounts or who break other terms of service without the admins permission? I mean it's not like they are ever around to notice.

It may be a dead point, but what if an admin logged today and saw this? You never know. Chris N has always done more here than J, but I think Chris has gotten very busy.

Maybe I totally missed the boat but I actually read the "princess Holly" thing as sarcasm and sort of a joke. I didn't find it hilarious or anything, but yeah...I didn't exactly think it was way off the rails either.

And yeah, the topics about CLs crop up every few months or so. It's a catch, because it's totally true but never going to change.
I do wish CLs had the ability to boot each other though. That way, if nothing else, Anthony/Flidais could boot the inactive ones. Would look a little better, anyway.
Yeah it didn't bother me either. I even changed my status to honour it lol. and I wouldn't have joked back with marilyn about cookies and stuff if it had annoyed me.

Nope, this will never change, and it's been going on even before Grecia and Jess dropped the ball. Anthony, the admins are telling you to let duplicates slide now? Damn, that's a change from when I was a CL. Sucky. Sounds liked you guys have even less power than we did when I was one. Becky, I know of the former CL you speak of, and yes, he did ban users simply because he disliked them, or on the flipside let blatant terms violations slide if someone was his friend. He and I did not see eye to eye 99 percent of the time, but I was still saddened to hear of his death.

One good reason is that if I started cleaning house, where would it end? Also, if we started taking matters in to our own hands and enforcing the rules, cleaning out all the duplicate accounts, not allowing racial content, making sure no copywrited material was ever posted and the likes, there would be a rebellion. Some of the people who hung around back when Ocean Dream, grecia and I became cL's will remember how many people tried to frustrate us to the point that we'd quit. One guy even was so bold as to say that if we banned him, he was good enough friends with JJ that all he would have to do is tell JJ about it and he'd be unbanned. And quite honestly, I think he was right. JJ is getting paid to have this site. We CL's are volunteers only. The only reward we get is being premium. So, in a nutshell, it comes down to a simple lack of insentive. If you think you have the motivation and the time to waiste, by all means, get in touch with the admins and have a go at it.
Also, let me point out that one day I loged in and found myself in the middle of a conversation. Several people were talking about how easy it would be to create duplicate accounts and fool us CL's. They were actually talking about making bets on it and paying each other through PayPal. When they saw me, the conversation died, and one of the main people wrote me privately, saying he was just messing around and the likes. But think about how easy it would be to create a duplicate account. Log in from your computer and then create another account from your phone and there ya go. totally different IP addresses.
Now, with all of that said, which rules do you want to see enforced? Look back through the boards and see if you can find the one that JJ started on rewriting the terms of service. It was supposed to happen in 2 weeks... but it's been at least two years now. Suggestions are welcome.
Premium membership. Doesn't seem like much of a reward. I get it though. I'm not invested enough here to - or popular enough - to attempt to do anything about that. Not even sure I'd be good for the job anyway. I do understand what you're saying. Essentially it's like any other society; corruption abounds and those who would do something about it simply can't, or feel they can't. It's funny that the enforcement of the terms of service would be a problem though.
It mainly happens because there are people who think the rules should be enforced, but that the rules simply don't apply to them. With only 2.5 cl's, we just can't be here all the time.
I get it. CLs have lives outside of this sight. And so they should. If nothing else the whole sight is a very interesting social experiment.
I would support the current CLs if they started doing shit without admin approval, maybe then the admins would come back, or hell, CLs can feel better about their job. The way I see it, follow the Terms of service and leave it at that. It is what you signed up for afterall.
Right, but then to have the owner come back and reenable the accounts we banned? What's the point? Our position is already enough of a laughing stock as it is. Speaking for myself, if I got part of the money from the premiums, I might be willing to do more, but since I don't, it is what it is. People are so eager to becomes CL's, then they get it, realize what a hopeless case it is, and then they promptly disappear. I honestly can't blame them, though I'd have more respect for them if they actually resigned.
Despite the senario of favoritism mentioned above, is it even likely that, were the rules enforced, the admins would know or care? They might be in bed with a couple of the difficult cases, but surely not anywhere close to the majority.
Ok, basically, it's like I've already said. There's no insentive. I'm a Mcdonalds employee. I can't make a high-polluting fancy french restaurant out of it. You're more than welcome to step up to the plate. I do what I can, but the site has been let go for years and is falling apart and the owner doesn't care. If he's getting the money and he doesn't care, give me a reason why I should care when I'm not getting anything. Make it worth my while. Had you rather the very few of us who do anything at all step down? If that happens, then the zone has absolutely nothing. Considering how little power we actually have to begin with, that's practically the case already anyway. Either way is honestly just fine with me. The owner is satisfied with our work. We get nothing for our service... except complaints, of course. If you have specific issues, feel free to bring them to any of our attention. This site wasn't designed to be run by two people alone. Natalie and I are the only ones here on even a semi-regular basis. A lot of the errors that get reported to me are also errors that I know about and have no power to fix. What exactly do you want? If you really look at the terms of service, they're written in such a way that people can find very easy loopholes. Most of them just aren't all that enforceable.
Anthony, I can't speak for everyone, but for me my questions are generalized. Hopefully you don't find my questions to be attacking you. If you do, I appologize, as that was not my intent. It was mere curiocity, as until now I've steared clear of any sight politics. The topic was here, and so I asked.:) The admins standards of acceptability, whatever they may be are another matter entirely. I'm getting a sense that this is a pretty thankless "job".
